Pianos that have not been tuned regularly need to be brought to pitch gradually and repeatedly or your piano can be damaged. It pays to tune your piano regularly, even if you don't play it everyday. Popular opinion is to have it tuned twice a year - a couple weeks after the seasons change is a good time to help it adjust to the changing climate and humidity.
